Part Twenty-four: A wish upon a star

It was a late and warm night. Everything was silent in the small town called Radiant Garden.

No light was burning besides the light of the stars and moon. The children were happily snuggeling and sleeping in their bed.

It was a truly peaceful night.

Only some foots steps were heard a bit further away. The silver curly haired “Angel” of the town was still outside and stood on a lonely hill starring into the endless night sky.
It was Mellina Van Bloodriver. Few days ago she had to visit their leader. He told her a really unpleasant new rule he decided.

This rule said that when a female Bloodriver can’t find till her 265 Birthday a Husband on her own, that he will find one for her. In Mellina’s case he had already decided that he will be this husband.

The thought of this kept her awake. She couldn’t sleep and close here eyes without seeing his face who tells her this again and again.

Nanny had support her the whole time, caring for Mellina and telling her that everything will be fine.
But Mellina doubt that. The Vampire’s in this town were all not the type of man she wished for. And Travelers were seen here rarely. But running away and hide she didn’t want to do either.

She couldn’t leave the towns people. They were her friends and if she would go another from her family would come to live in her house. But this person would maybe be not a Vegan like her and attack the town people.

It was a horrible situation for her. Tears came to her eyes and a cold breeze flew in her face.

She starred the stars and remembered a story her father told her years ago when she was still a little child. The Story was about a young girl. She had fallen in love with a soldier.

One night she lightend a single Lantern , the girl hoped that her beloved would see this Lantern and return home to her. While she starred the Lantern flying away she made a wish upon a star and wished for her beloved one to return home. The stars granted her the wish and the next day the solider returned home and they lived happy together.

Fireflies were dancing around her. It seemed like they wanted to comfort her with their dance.

Mellina smiled a bit but this smile vanished soon, tears appeared. She lightened a flying Lantern on as hoped that like the Girl in the story the star may hear her wish. She watched the lantern fly away then she spoke silently to the stars:

“Please hear my wish: I wish for someone who will love me not for my beauty. But for my heart. For someone who will stay with me when my Beauty is gone someday. And who protect me from the evil here.”

The Fireflies started to follow the lantern. It looked like they wanted to help it to go to the heaven. Another smile came over Mellina’s face. But this time it didn’t vanish.

It might have sound silly in others ears, but she had hope again. Hope that she will find someday a man who will love her for who she is and not for her beauty.
